Earlier today I purchased this book: Pop Goes The Church: Should The Church Engage Pop Culture.

As a prson who is a leader of a couple different ministries, a mentor, and one whose forte is working with unchurched teens and gangs I am excited and really looking forward to reading this book.

I have always considered myself as one who leverages pop culture to reach to the people and their lives. It has always been easy for me to meet with people on the street in their real world with words that speak to them.

After I read this book I'll let you know what I think of it. But as of right now after skimming through the pages, this book is a must read for every church leader and ministry worker.

What is Going On

I know I haven't done a great job keeping my blog up to date. Shame on me. But I have just been busy with other things I consider more importance like: juggling many different projects, my personal goals I have set for myself, growing my relationship with Christ even more, mentoring three guys on a weekly basis, finishing up my Thursday evening home group, starting a new ministry, continuing on with my other ministry, and spending time with my wife and kids. So yes I have been busy.

I do think blooging is important and maybe, just maybe, I do need to prioritize my life, duties, wishes, and wants a little better to write something if only a paragraph four or five times a week.

Prayer

We need to remember that our helper, our advocate, in our prayers is our Lord Jesus Christ. So if you feel you might be lacking the power of prayer, all you have to do is look to Christ.

And if you see the moment of victory approaching keep on fighting, keep on praying. Keep on trusting so the act of the Holy Spirit will bring blessings to you.

Are We Moving?????

My wife and I have both been getting the same feeling that soon we are to move. We do not know when this will hapen or to where yet but the feelings are there. We don't know if we are going to a place with pleasant surroundings or to a place that is declining. We do know it is somewhere in the United States but have no idea where.

Do I know if this feeling is from God? Well, if both my wife and I are getting it at the same time, then it quite possibilly is.

Am I willing? Not sure yet. Am I resisting? Quite possibily am. How about my wife. She is more than willing than me.

I am having trouble grasping the possibility of a new home in a new city.

Waiting for God to tell me where we are to go next.

Stormy Weather

I was pondering about why it seems that I am not at the present moment strong at peace and why I haven't been blessed for awhile and that I am still walking through fire and rough water.

Maybe it's because I am thick headed and it takes me a little longer to learn the lessons God takes me through. So then I can get out of my bouts of depresson and God takes my faith to the level He wants me to be.

I do know that everytime I do come out of a conflict I am filled with peace and blessings beyond my wildest imaginations that God gives to me. Some of the stuff that has happened just amazes me.

Only if I will always look to God when the fierce fires come my way and never try to be strong on my own because I cannot make it without Him as he will sustain me and bring me through the rough stormy firey times in my life.

God Is Near

The way that we are traveling, the path we are taking, how many of us have the feeling or the assurance that God is right there, right by our side, every step of the way.

Or is it that we are feeling that God is possibly the furthest away. We are being thrown into "the furnace that is heated to seven times more than it was usualy heated. (Dan. 3:19)

Maybe you can't feel it or you just don't know, but when you think and feel God could be the furthest away He is actually the closest to you.

Have the assurance that, yes, God is there with you walking down the path you are on. He lights your path. He directs your steps to where you need to go whether it's to the bitter taing waters of Marah or the sweet refreshing tasting waters of Elim. Wherever He leads you, Whatever he gives you or takes away remember to praise His name.

Hope in God. Trust in God. See God is in everything and near you always.

Do you believe that you were chosen by God? Remember yes we are and remember God does the choosing. Ephesians 1:4 Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him In love (NASB)

So we need to remember that from the very beginning God had planned to be in a relationship with us through Christ Jesus.

We are part of God's plan and purpose. We were always a desired child of God even before we accepted Jesus as our Savior.

Are you able to fathom God's grace in choosing you? God chose you because He wanted and desired to be in relationship with you.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (NASB)

Trusting God With Our Friendships

Friendships are a good thing. And they are God's will for us to have friends. So we should ask God to bring good friends into our lives. Once we do look for God to bring people our way.

I have a friend I have known for about 20 years. And he is a good christian friend. Lately he has been going through his own personal hell. So far this year it has been horrible for him. He keeps quoting scripture and all the biblical knowledge he has but it just seems like he doesn't believe it anymore and is not willing to put it to practice. He has become recluse and doesn't want anyone's help. (Hey, I've been there a few times myself.)

If you believe God is the engineer of your friendships then you'll believe He has a way of bringing the right people into your life at the right time for the right purpose.

So, maybe I should just be there for my friend if he wants my help and not try any more to force my way on him to help him. He has told me, "Thanks, but no thanks! I want to do it ALL myself." You can just see that he doesn't trust God. And he doesn't want help and he doesn't want a mentor. I won't give up on him but I will respect his wishes and just pray for him.

You never know maybe God has someone else planned to bring into my friend's life that's only there for a season that will guide and help my friend through his problems. Maybe even my friend should open up to God even more to bring more friends into his life that he needs right now to help him or guide him. And yes without my friend knowing it, this whole thing my friend is going through might just be a preclude to bringing him to those who might need his help and friendship.

It is God's will that we should have friends. So pray to God to bring good friends into your life, trust Him, and then look for all the opportunities to come your way to be a friend to someone and even for you to gain a friend.

I am not really sure how I am going to like this book but it was recommended by a fellow blogger, NakedPastor, as well as a friend of mine so it looked very interesting and compelling so I thought I would give it a try.

I was sick for three days earlier this week. Then I started feeling better by Thursday. Then last night, Friday, I spent the whole night at the church. We had a special event outside today and I needed to protect $80,000.00 of audio equipment that we set-up late yesterday for today's lunch/concert event.

I actually was up for 28 straight hours. I came home, slept for four hours, then got up. And now I feel horrible again. Maybe more tired than being sick.

What Do We Desire In Our Lives

If the life we have is so far off from the life we really want, then what is the life we really want and when we don't find or obtain this life why do we go around and find someone to blame?

What is it we are longing for? Kind words. A loving embrace. That person who will listen attentively when we talk. That boss who will appreciate our efforts and hard work. The spouse who's always there for their partner. A friend who will listen in difficult times.

Yes, we do suffer from indifference almost on a daily basis. It at times comes from our family, friends, and and many times from complete strangers. It happens. If the decisions they make doesn't affect themselves, then they really couldn't care less what impact it may have on us. Then we feel we have been violated. And then we go on thinking it's part of life pretending that it really doesn't matter when in fact it really has done damage to our souls.

We need others in our lives. We need people. It is part of our design. If you think about it, all of our deepest longings do require for others around us to come through for us.

Events and decisions that happen around us and in our lives are just occasions. Instead of going into our shell, clamming up, blaming others, and becoming a hermit we are to seek and desire another person to share so our desires can be fulfilled.

Living Under Satan's Lies

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father he was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

We all know that satan is called the father of lies in Scripture. How come then we still continue to believe in those subtle lies that bombard our lives almost on a daily basis. Satan is hoping that we continue to believe in whatever he is saying to us, offering up to our lives, or insinuating in our hearts. Yes, the evil one is lying to us seeking for our agreements every single day. "You're stupid", "You blew that!", "You are bad!", "You are an ass!" , "Can't you do anything right?" I struggle with those. And there are many other lies out there people struggle with.

Remember we are good, our hearts are good, and we do matter to God. That is hard for us to grasp and hang on to. If you don't believe that then try this little experiement. On a daily basis keep repeating to yourself I am good, my heart is good, I do matter to God and then you will see and experience how much accusation you really do live under.

Do not allow the enemy to take any small victory he can get because he will just then take it and go for more and then we just start accepting it as normal.

Instead take every decision and issue to Jesus. So then you don't have to live under a black cloud every day.

Jobless But Not Without Work To Do

I was laid off my job last Friday right as we went into the two-week spring/Easter break. The school district I work for needs to cut $14 million from the budget. (All of the school districts in CA are facing the same horrible fate, some needing to cut as much as $80 million). I was laid-off by phone call late Friday afternoon. They stated the department I was being paid from could no longer afford me.

So I went into break facing many questions. Why would God allow this to happen to me when I felt I was excelling? What was God telling me? Was God trying to get my attention? Does God now want me to change directions? Does God want me to focus on my men's devotional book? Does God want me to get serious and finish my web site? Does God want me to become a pastor? Does God want me to become a consultant? All these questions have been flooding my thoughts and prayers.

God, for a time, for a season, allowed me to work with youth. Now it is time to get serious and listen to God's voice and find out what is the next chapter He is going to open in my life.

I will have to be ready to go through that door when God opens it.

This week I didn't do much with my web site or writing. I have been resting as I have been sick since Tuesday with the flu and a fevor of 101.

Next week will be a different story as I have plans to meet with people getting coaching and expert advice on what my next move will be.

I always have to remember the title of my blog, "God Is Good All The Time" He has a plan and His plan is what is good for our lives.

God Show Us Clarity

How's your life? Are you perfectly clear, do you understand, why things have gone the way they have?

Have you ever questioned, "Where was God in all of this?"

Do you know what to do next. Do you have the confidence to honestly believe everything will work out for the best.

Do you feel as if you are driving down the path of life looking through a sun glared dirty windshield not able to make out what lies ahead not knowing if you should continue on or turn away.

Can you trust God to where He is taking you even if the path is bumpy and not very clear. It should still be easy, right? So, where is your faith in all of this.

Why is it that when we sometimes make a change in our lives thinking it is what God wanted us to do and then after a short while it doesn't pan out the way we thought it would. Losing hope of the freedom and abundant life. Where is the peace like a river and the unspeakable joy some have talked about but we rarly see.

Oh, how I would love to wake up every morning knowing who I am and where God is taking me. Just as many people do, I also need clarity and faith.

We are to be more concerned with our character than with our reputation. Our character is who we really are, while our reputation is merely what others think of us and what they believe we are.

What is the true foundation of integrity?

By whose measure is it to be applied?

How does integrity and security go hand-in-hand?

What values make up your measure of integrity?

In a word, the highest and only measure of integrity is Christ. Integrity in itself is fluid; the degrees of it are immeasurable. Everyone has a level of it, from the pastor, priest, minister, and believe-it-or-not to the thief. But remember the only true measure of noble integrity is Christ Jesus the Lord.

Do not measure integrity by anyone other than Christ. Let Him be the standard by which all that you do is measured.

As you've noticed I just haven't taken the time to update my blog as of late. I just haven't really cared, so I've put my energy into other projects.

I don’t really know how many loyal readers I have but it seems I get a handful or two always responding to my polls. So that might be good.

My new ministry, Light of the World Christian Ministries is off and running. I just obtained my charter. My new website is almost ready for all to see.

I am looking into putting a blog on my new site as well as a podcast or a link to podcast at iTunes. Does anyone have any information on how or what program to use to put a podcast on my site.

So, I keep plugging along.

Whether you are on top of the world or under its weight it is okay to let God know how you feel. God is interested in our hearts.

Just don't give God lip service. Tell Him how you ACTUALLY feel. He wants us to give to Him our expression of our deepest emoti0ns. He wants us to be open to Him.

Remember He always listens to us and He is always worthy of our praise.

A friend of mine sent me this today....

A stressed out woman on a busy boulevard was tailgating a man. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cellphone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window andlooked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.

He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door.

She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' License plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car".

Keep On Forgiving

What is one of the most difficult things to do in life? I think, at least for me, is forgiveness. Forgiving someone that has wronged you. I would rather carry it with me, let it fester, and become bitterness.

But what does God's Word instruct us to do? We are told to forgive other people. Matthew 18:21-22 (21) Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" (22) Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. (NASB)

We are to forgive everyone. And we are to do it more times than we can count. That is a very very tall order. But we must remember that is an order from God. An order that must be obeyed.

So, forgiveness isn't optional. It is required of us. Even when it is difficult for us to forgive those who have hurt us. We need to find it in our hearts to forgive them. If we don't we not only hurt ourselves, we disobey our Heavenly Father.

So, as long as we live we must forgive and keep on forgiving.

Today I picked-up Max Lucado's new book, 3:16 The Numbers Of Hope. He purposely had his new book released yesterday on 9/11 because 9/11 is refered to as numbers of dispair while the numbers in the title of his book, 3:16 refer to numbers of hope.

I am looking forward to reading this book.

His Quiet Strength

Quiet Strength is by far the best book I have read this year so far.

This book is a must read for all in leadership roles. Tony Dungy, head coach of the Super Bowl Champions Indianapolis Colts, explains through his life examples that doing all the little things does and will make a difference in your life, even when it doesn't seem like it will.

Dungy also explains that a life of consistency and reliance on God to lead your life and not being moved by your emotions is how you endure.

Dungy really is an awesome example for everyone showing those of us how you can win in the game of life both on and off the field. He shared some very encouraging principles that have helped him when he had to faced some of the toughest storms that came across in his life.

This is a must read book for everyone.

NFL football season officially began this past Thursday evening. Sunday is the San Diego Chargers first game of the season here at home against the Chicago Bears. The Chargers are off to prove that last years 14-2 season and AFC West Champions was no fluke.

Faith Challange

This week I had two estimates to replace my whole cooling/heating systems in my home. Here are the results:

I will replace everything with a new Lennox system... 80% efficent furnace, I.D. cooling coil, 3- ton 13 sheer air conditioner, digital touchscreen efficent temperature thermostat control, and a whole house duct cleaning. This will cost us $5,950.00.

I need to get this down for my family since it has been so very hot lately and it will be very cool during the winter.

So, I will use our home equity to initially pay for this. Now comes the faith, challange, and trust that I can rely and trust God to help me in different ways to be able to find ways to pay this off in a timely manner.

Miserable in the Heat Wave

It's late, after 11:00 p.m., and I can't sleep for a few reasons. First I am getting sick, a summer cold and I feel miserable. Second, my area has been under a severe heat warning, scorching heat around 105 the past four days, since last Friday. Third, our air conditioning has gone down so it has become unbearable and a tech won't be out until later this week. Fourth, it doesn't matter anyways if our air conditioning is down because our power company, SDG&E has mandated manditory energy conservation and customers have not been heeding to these warnings and so much electricity has been used that we have lost power for an hour at a time on Saturday and Sunday. Not only that SDG&E has declared a power emergency for Tuesday and has begun preparing for potential rolling blackouts as demand continues to hit a record high. Fifth, it is just too stinking hot to sleep. It is 11:05 and it is 88 degrees outside.

To get out of this miserable heat the past three days, Saturday, Sunday, and today (yes today, Monday, was a holiday) I took my kids to the enclosed mall and we watched movies and ate lunch. On Saturday we saw The Simpsons Movie, On Sunday we saw Mr. Bean's Holiday, and today we saw The Transformers.

Tomorrow the kids will be back in school but will remain indoors during school hours because of the heat warning.

It will be 11 degrees cooler but not until Thursday.

I have a wet wash cloth in the freezer. Hopefully, it is frozen by now. If it is, I will take it out, go upstairs, lay down, and put the frozen face cloth on my forehead and see if that helps me go to sleep.

Enough of my ramblings. Good night.

People Are Watching

Whether you like it or not, and believe me I need to keep reminding myself of this almost on a daily basis, we are role models to others out there. So, that means hopefully the lives we choose to live will serve as examples to others of our worship to God as well as our dedication to our obedience to His commandments.

Each and every day you need to ask yourself if you're the kind of role model you would want others to emulate.

I know for me, I always have certain aspects in my behavior that could stand lots of improvement. I have my family, people I mentor, and people I work with in the ministry that love me so they tend to watch me more closely than how others on the outside watch me. And because of my actions all those watching are learning how to act and live.

D.L. Moody said, "A man ought to live so that everyone knows he is a Christian, and most of all his family ought to know."

So we owe it to everyone, we need to live rightously.

On Tuesday I picked-up my pre-ordered copy of Casting Crowns new CD called The Alter and the Door.

This CD is a little different than their previous one. But I also said that when Lifesong came out.

This CD took me two times listening through before it began to grow on me.

Hearing God

Do you hear God? When He speaks to you does He speak in a loud and clear voice so it is easy for you to hear Him? Or more often than not does He speak to you in a soft quiet voice?

When God speaks to me, more often than not He always speaks to me in His very soft quiet voice. I wish His voice to me was always loud and clear, that would make it so much easier for me to know what He wants me to do next.

But I have become wise. I have carved out quiet times each day to study His Word and sense His direction for my life and my family's life.

At first, if you haven't done so already, it's difficult to quiet yourself long enough to listen to your conscience. After awhile it becomes much easier to attune yourself to the subtle quidence of your intuitions.

Remember God doesn't send His messages to us on city billboards or doesn't always point us into the right direction of that open door. We need to pray sincerely and wait quietly for God's response. And He will most of the time respond to us in subtler ways. But you must desire to quiet yourself long enough so you can hear His voice from the quiet corners of your willing heart.

Prioritizing Our Duties

Whether we work diligently or not it seems most of us just can't find enough time to do most things on our "to do" list. What we need to do is prioritize our duties and then deligate some of our other tasks to others who are more capable. I know for some of us who are perfectonists or just like doing everything ourselves, deligating duties to others is quit difficult to do.

But we all need to wake up to reality that when our day is filled with more activities than we can handle we need to prioritize and then let everything else go. God wants us to do this, prioritize our day, prioritize our life.

And the best way to start? Putting God first in your life.

Journaling

I am becoming more serious about my journaling. Ohhhhh I have been journaling off-and-on for the past 15 years or so. I have filled up 8 journal composition books but never felt as compelled as I do now to take my journaling more seriosly.

Before my journaling was just writing what was on my heart. Sometimes my writings have been quite dark.

Now I feel a need to become ever closer to God than I have ever been before. Journaling for me is now becoming more and more of a form of worship.

In my daily quiet place of solitude where I read God's Word, pray, seek His face, and listen for His voice, I am also exploring what is in my heart, the blessings and the struggles and writing my heart to God. I am basicly recording all of my thoughts, prayers, fears, and miracles in my life.

I have found for me when I write out my heart to God it becomes a wonderful compliment to my daily devotionals with Him. I have learned that I don't always need to write on the negative. Instead, I am now writing about who God says I am, where I have been, where I am going, what I am learning, what experiences have brought me to this time and place in me life, what has brought me to my knees, life changing mistakes, releasing ALL to God, true blessings in my life, surrendering and giving all to God, praises and victories, and the roll God has in my life.

Because of the seriousness of the journaling I am now taking, I am deepening my relationship with God.

A bridge or a tunnel?

Is this a bridge or is it a tunnel?

The bridge (or should it be called tunnel) goes under water to allow movement of ships . In order for ships to pass, this bridge is half under the water. You drive down into a tunnel underneath the water and then come out on the other side.

This is truly a marvelous piece of engineering!? This bridge is between Sweden and Denmark.

God Cares

Life isn't always far. And sometimes life can be downright difficult.

When our hearts are broken, we are worrying, or are going through our deepest darkest moments, remember we are protected and comforted but our gracious Heavenly Father.

Where ever we are He is always near. When we lift our prayers to Him, He hears them. God is bigger than any of our problems.

Friendships

When we have friendships we tend to believe that all of our friendships are in one way or another pleasing to God. We need to be careful because if we are not we can end up becoming like our friends.

Our friends tend to influence us in powerful or sutle ways. Some of our friendships can help us to honor God. These types of friendships need to be nurtured.

Some of our other friendships have the possibility of putting us in the position of being tempted to dishonor God by disobeying the instructions for us located in His Word.

We need to spend as much time as possible during the day in the presence of godly believers. When we do we will be blessed not only by our godly friends but also by God.

Praying like Jesus

Mark 1:35 In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.

Matthew 14:23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

It is so hard for the most of us to just abandon anything and everything at the drop of a hat and go somewhere private and get away to have alone time with God like Jesus always made it a point to do. And I think God knows that and understands that but that doesn't excuse us to have an attitude of prayer throughout the day, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing.

I also believe besides having an attitude of prayer throughout the day we are supposed to set aside a time for ourselves, preferably the same time everyday, whatever works best, for prayer and worship time. Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

The Strongest NASB Exhaustive Concordance

Today from Amazon.com I purchased this much needed campanion to my New American Standard Bible I use for most of my reading and studying. I purchased, The Strongest NASB Exhaustive Concordance.

Why it took me so long to buy this, I don't know. Maybe it was the price. I got it for $23.84. Too good of a deal tp pass up.

I am now looking forward to using this new one instead of my Strongs concordances that are geared toward the NKJV, KJV, and NIV.

I have always concluded that the value of an exhaustive concordance is indiscribable for any type of Bible study.

I am hoping I will use this one as much or even more frequently than my Strong's Exhaustive Concordance for the KJV since concordances are the most valuable asset next to the Bible itself.

Busy Days

Well, I let the past 5 days really slip past me without writing an entry. The past few days really flew by as I was just busy, busy, busy, with ministry, church stuff, family, and whatever else came across my path.

Yesterday was my son's 14th birthday. It was a low-key type of celebration, the way he wanted it. He got his favorite meal, his favorite cheese cake, and a few presents. And that made his day.

My 10 year old daughter is getting ready to go to camp for 4 days from Thursday through Sunday.

My wife and I are getting ready to get away and go to a Bed and Breakfast in the mountains for a couple of days, Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, this weekend. With work and all that we do we haven't been able to get away with each other for a long time, about 5 years. So, now is our chance.

So, maybe, I'll get in one more post, tomorrow, before next Monday.

First Thing In The Morning

What is it that you crave most first thing every morning? Do you feel you have to have a freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea from home or at you local Starbucks? Do you feel you need that bowl of cereal or a plate of bacon and eggs? Do you feel like you must read the newspaper or even watch one of the news shows on TV before you leave for the day?

We all need to learn to hunger for God's Word on a daily basis. We need to look to God for guidence for our needs of each day.

Some of you probably do your devotions at night and others already do theirs sometime in the morning.

From personal experience nothing will begin your day like some alone devotional time with God. If you desire to seek Him and truly seek Him you will grow closer to Him.

So every morning make plans to meet God. And you will have intimate joy in you heart that you can carry with you throughout the whole day.

So....What Do You Believe?

Last night My friend and I were discussing theology, ecclesiology, and eschatology. I don't know how we got on these disussions, but we did. It was a good healthy discussion that we respected each other's opininions and beliefs.

I knew he had slightly different beliefs than me. Come to find out he, from what I can gather, he is a Calvanist, or he is actually leaning in that direction. Kind of in the same line of Pastor John MacArthur. My friend does have some of the same views of ecclesiology and eschatology as me but at the same time he also does reject some of the classic views of dispensationalism. Hence from what I can gather, in my humble opinion, his opinions and beliefs are leaky (wishy-washy) at best. Mainly because I used Bible knowledge and scripture to back up my case and he had very good head knowledge but the scripture he used was twisted towards his beliefs.

Like I said above we are still great friends after that discussion.

I am a premillennial, pretribulational, dispensationalist.

Pretribulationalism teaches that the rapture of the entire church (both the dead and living saints) will occur before the any part of the seven-year tribulation period.

Premillennialism Jesus Christ will literally reign on the earth for 1,000 years at his second coming. The doctrine is called premillennialism because it views the current age as prior to Jesus Christ's kingdom

Dispensationalism is a form of premillennialism which teaches biblical history as a number of successive "economies" or "administrations", called "dispensations. In short dispensationalists are those who believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church. Dispensationalists emphasis the teaching of prophecy and the imminent, at any moment, return of Christ.

So just curious......what do you believe?

When God saves us , His spirit lives in us. How come then when some read God's Word there are some of us, or maybe most of us, that allow the enemy to twist God's truth so that they begin to doubt God's goodnessness for our lives. Why do we allow that to happen?

God's faithfullness is awesome. He ALWAYS keeps His promises to us even though we might not think that they unfolded exactly the way we would've liked.

God is ultimately trustworthy with everything, even our lives.

1 Cor 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (NASB)

Hebrews 6:18 ...so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us (NASB)

Contentment And Materialism

Why are we confronted and tempted almost on a daily basis with the worldly values of materialism?

Why do we become discontented when a neighbor or a friend of ours park in their driveway a brand new car, buy a brand new home, or take a month long vacation? And all we are stuck with is a 12 year old car, an apartment, or a vacation at home that only lasts a week.

So, have we become disillusioned to the belief that possessions and money can buy and will bring us happiness and contentment.

We as Christians need to realize that happiness and contentment will never come through money and possessions.

We also need to remember to not make decisions based solely on financies. Money can be an element to consider when making a decision but should never be the driving force. Money can become our god and a miserable master when it dictates our decisions.

It's okay to have nice things but don't let materialism dictate how you live you life.

Just remember how blessed we are in the United States. We are probably among the 10% of the richest people living in the world.

Be greatful if you have a home and food in the fridge because you are living better than most of the people living on the earth today.

Don't grumble about what you don't have, instead, praise God for what you do have.

I know this in the past has been hard for me but I am more content now with what God has given me than 7 years ago when my attitude was trying to stay with the "Joneses".

Weight Update #4

I continue to be successful in my weight loss. It was a real struggle the last 20 days since I last wrote about losing weight. But in those 20 days I lost 8 more pounds. I did for three days lose my focus on eating right but I gained control again. It is so hard for me when I see my kids eating anything and everything, I am tempted to join them. What has helped me is my wife helping me, giving me encouragement, as well as she is on a mini diet (Doesn't need to lose as much as I do) and will eat light night-time meals with me.

In total now, I have now lost 20 pounds. So that means I have 30 to go.

Embeacing Love

I just finished Eric Bryant's book Peppermint-Filled Piñatas: Breaking Through Tolerance and Embracing Love .

Throughout this book Eric encourages us to love those that we normally overlook, even those we tend to dislike. He told first-hand accounts, and his book is filled with love and grace.

We are to befriend those around us and to help them discover what a true relationship with God is really all about. Isn't this what Jesus did? Isn't this Jesus' call to all of us.

What an encouraging book. My whole attitude has changed even more so now, especially in the neighborhood I live where it is very diverse with Islam, Chaldeans, Asians, Mexicans, African-Americans, and Whites.

Political Correctness

Are You Neighborly?

Dead Sea Scrolls

From June 29-December 31 the Dead Sea Scrolls are on display at the San Diego Natural History Museum. The tickets are a little on the expensive side ranging from $24 to $28 depending upon peak or off-peak hours.

There are 27 pieces from the Dead Sea Scrolls which includes, fragments from the book of Psalms, a fragment from the fifth chapter of Isaiah that will be shown for the first time ever and a text from the Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy, and many other fragments. Also on disply will be hundreds of religious and secular writings. Also featured will be Bibles throughout history.

For preservation reasons, the exhabition will be shown in two sets for three months at a time. First set from June 29-September, the second from October - December 31.

I plan to attend both sets.

Do You Feel At Peace

Do you feel at peace? Are you a peaceful person? If not, do you desire peace or are you seeking peace?

We are living in a world with violence, every one seems angry, there is hostility towards one another, we need to work harder and even longer hours, we fret and worry over the smallest things especialy when nothing goes our way, and it seems we are struggling on a daily basis just to survive.

After reading Psalm 46:10 Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth., I realized something. God is waiting patiently for us to slow down enough so that we stop struggling and recognize His presence. And then we need to meditate on Him so we can accept the gift of peace that He is so willing to bring into our lives.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

Your Next Miracle Is Straight Ahead

How many miracles do you think have we missed out on because of your unbelief?

Don't give in to fear. And don't doubt when things around you seem to be in a state of utter turmoil.

We need to remember that Christ lives in us and He will always be faithful to us. No matter our degree to which we trust Him, Jesus will always be faithful to us.

But remember this....Don't give in to doubt or fear or you will miss out on the richness of blessings He has in store for us.

Also remember God knows about our situation and He will navigate us through successfully.

Bearing Fruit

God knows what awaits us and what opportunities lie ahead for us. So, He is always working in our lives. Even when things are being removed from our lives. That is Him helping us to in the midst of our trials to help us put everything into prioritiy and to make our more lives manageable.

He is preparing us so that His Glory can truly shine through.

In other words, We are like a tree that bears fruit. So, He must prune every fruit bearing branch as well as remove what is unneccessary. He is prunning our branches so that we can bear even more fruit for His Kingdom.

We are being molded for greater things to come.

John 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit (NASB)

Weight Update #3

As of today I have lost a total of 12 pounds now. It has been a very difficult road for me but I am progressing toward my goal of 50 pounds.

I have been drinking lots of water and have cut my Diet Pepsi consumption in half. A new drink I have really enjoyed is Naked Juice . It comes in several different flavors( I believe there to be 20) with Mighty Mango, Orange Mango Motion, Strawberry Kiwi Kick, Blue Machine, and Strawberry Banana-C being my favorites. And depending the type of drink you get it is either an antioxidant, protein, energy, super food, well-being or just plain juice. Sometimes instead of a meal I will drink one of these 15.2 ounce antioxidants, energy, super food drinks and I will be satisfied. It is a little on the expensive side but I believe it is very worth it. It is all natural, no sugar, no preservatives, and they claim to have a pound of fruit in every bottle. I do go through about 4 to 5 bottles a week.

So 12 down and 38 more to go.

Rejection

Just yesterday I experienced a form of rejection of what I thought was a good plan for a project I was working on for some troubled and homeless youth. I won't go into detail what the plan was but I though it was a pretty good plan.

Then that form of rejection hit me. I was bummed. I really felt bad. I took it hard.

Then I remembered lots of us go through an experience, sometimes many times in our lifetime, of some form of rejection.

Then I remembered what God says about us......
We belong because we are His Children.
No matter what others think or say about us, God says we have worth.
We also are capable to accomplish whatever God calls us to do.
We are valuable to God.
God loves us.

God places great importance in all of our lives. And He desires to see everyone of us enjoy His fellowship and His Kingdom.

Refuse To Let Your Faith Be Shaken

Have you ever felt as if you have lost your faith in God in the midst of going through a very long and sometimes difficult circumstance.

Remember those situations are brought into our lives so our faith in Him will be strengthened. Don't allow the emotions of the moment, of our heart, to sway your thoughts, beliefs, and faith.

The testing of our faith does mold us and shape us into His image. Just don't spout off biblical truths, you need to trust those truths in your own hearts.

And don't rush it. Don't try to get through your adversity too quickly. If you do, you might be preventing God from teaching you that lesson He wants you to learn.

When we do learn to endure all those hardships we mature as believers and the foundation of faith is strengthened.

Remember a faith that is tested and is proven will yield immeasurable fruit in the Kingdom of God.

James 1: 2-6 (2) Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
(3) knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. (4) And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (5) But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (6) But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. (NASB)

Should We Have Any Fear

No matter what kind of life we are living, there is always a matter of uncertainty that seems to be present. Because of the current events in the world and our lives we are always looking towards the magnitude of how uncertain these times are.

We need to rid ourselves from a life of fear and anxiety and start living our lives the way God intended us to. So, in these tough times, in the uncertain times, we should keep our focus on the Lord.

No matter if we face family break-ups, economic hardships, or any other opositions against us, we need to remember we can stand firm because God is our protector and defender.

When those thoughts of uncertainty, and fear assail us, we need to barricade our minds with the Word of God. Memorize scripture, recite scripture, and pray.

Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? (NASB)

Contentment #2

Our pastor, David Hoffman, just released his third book called, Contentment: The Key To Abundant Living. Here is a small excerpt from chapter 4 entitled You Will Never Be Dissappointed.

God has given each of us a road to walk that leads to contentment and happiness and the Bible is God's road map. The problem is that the road is long and sometimes grows dark, preventing us from seeing where we are going. Then suddenly we turn a corner and there is what seems to be a shortcut. Without consulting the map we turn off the road onto the shortcut. When we take the shortcut we're on our own. We've taken control and ceased following the road map provided by God.

Get back on the road shown on the map, the road on which God had called you to walk. His road map can be trusted. His path is always the best. God is always faithful and always leads those who will follow into success and fulfillment. You can trust your life, situation, problems, relationships, and destiny to God. He is always faithful.

The hardest thing about trusting God could possibly be relinquishing control. It can be scary to be dropped off on an unknown road, not knowing where it will lead. But God says "Trust Me. I have it all mapped out. Even if it gets dark you will not fall of the cliff."

Fear and Faith

When a challenge or a sticky situation comes your way what do you do? What is your first response? Do you run away from your problems and situation with fear in your heart. Or do you put on your shield and stand and face the enemy with the faith God has given to you?

We are suppossed to stand firm in our faith. We need to face all our situations with power and confidence knowing that God is with us and that He is in control of all our situations.

He will give us what we need to fight the situation: wisdom, the strength to do what seems impossible, and protection from the enemy's wicked schemes.

Never feel fearful because God loves you and He fights for you. And whenever there is a danger or a threat know this, He always makes His presence known.

David wrote in Psalm 18, saying the Lord will deliver us from the hand of all our enemies.

Are You Content?

How many of us out there are truly content? Are you a happiness chaser? Are you satisfied with what you have today?

How many of us have an attitude that allows God to work in our lives?

Have you totally submitted to God and are you willing to go where God wants to use you to serve others?

Do you understand that God is working in your life and your present situation is only temporary and that God produces good out of any and all adversity that comes your way.

I'll admit, there are times I struggle with being content.

In future entries down the road I will share with you what I find as I study about contentment and what Paul was writing about in Philippians.

Philippians 4:11 I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

Registration

This morning we registered my son for the 9th grade, even though his school doesn't start until August 20. Since it was the first day of registration and we did in the morning it took no longer than an hour to do. We were also able to buy his 2007-2008 yearbook at $90.00 and his P.E. Uniform at $20.00.

Another thing I did was sign myself up for the parent patrol access which will allow me, an authorized parent, to view his class schedule, attendance, grades, and other related information over the internet.

When we went back at 1:oo to get his picture taken for the yearbook and his school I. D. the registration line was now twice as long. Sure glad we did everything early.

I am sure my son will do well in high school. Being brought up in a Christian home with a good Bible background and knowledge and having myself pray over him daily, he will be strong spiritually and morally.

If you have a son or daughter that attends any type of secular or even Christian school I would suggest for you to pray over them daily and also pray for them to have the ability to say, "No!", when anything bad comes their way.

After I saw one of my fellow bloggers at In The Clearing changed his blog to this neat template I knew right then and there that this was the template for my worn out blog's template.

Who knows this move of changing the look of my blog might, just might, motivate me to write at least one entry a week now.

Desiring My Son To Have A Closer Walk With God

My son will be graduating from middle school, 8th grade, on Thursday. I can't believe it. He's almost 14 years old and going into high school. Time sure flies by. He will be attending high school, the 9th grade, starting in mid-August.

I am praying he will use the summer to study God's Word and have a desire to get closer to God. I will be there to help him and guide him if he so chooses to do so.

weight update

As of today I have lost a total of 8 pounds in a one month period. I have been eating lots of salads and cut out lots of fried crunchy foods. And to tell you the truth, it has been easy and enjoyable so far. Maybe if I tried harder and made my life really miserable I would have lost more by now. But I want to be successful and for once I want to keep the weight off for good.

So, 8 down, 42 more to go.

God Keeps Blessing

God continues to keep blessing our family. I believe since we have been faithful in our tithing and our giving to the poor, God is overflowing our storehouse with blessings.

This time we were able to purchase, actually we just had the exact cost of this TV.

So we purchased a Sony 37" BRAVIA H series 3LCD Rear Projection HDTV.

Hooked-up to HDTV cable, the picture is astonishingly beautiful.

Well worth the investment.

A Great Christian Rap Album

Yesterday, I picked up Flame's new release, "Our World Fallen", his third album.

This album is a two part project with the second part, "Our World Redeemed" coming out August 7, 2007.

The production, creativity, and lyrics of this CD are awesome. And he does a great job from start to finish rappin' the world's need for redemption through Christ.

To date this is the best CD, Flame, has put together. I am looking forward to "Our World Redeemed." I recommend it to every one. Happy Listening.

Disposal

Item #2 just instaled in my kitchen was a new disposal. I got the
KitchenAid 5/8 HP Disposer - Model: KCDC150K

I am glad I have a friend who's father is a plummer. He instaled it for me at a reduced rate. It was a breeze for him to install. To be honest I believe it would have been very difficult for me to install this disposal.

It works great. And it is very powerful. It has stainless-steel swivel impellers, grinding wheel and shredder ring. So it is fast and efficient cutting stuff while the continuous-feed operation prevents jamming and clogging.

Next on my kitchen agenda: a new range/stove.

Losing weight

I have lost a total of 5 pounds now.

I have changed my eating habits. Eating lower in fat foods. Eating lots of salads with lots of good stuff in my salads. And of course topping it with non fat salad dressings. The Ranch non-fat and Wishbone Vinaigrette and Italian are pretty tasty.

Microwave Oven

My wife and I are starting to redo our kitchen to make it more appealling for ourselves as well as for the probability if God ever leads us to sell our home, or rent it out to someone in the church, and we move some where else.

So we started with the Whirlpool 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - White. Yes we are going with the color white. By the time we are done all of our kitchen appliances will be white.

We had it installed yesterday afternoon.

Next on our agenda in two weeks will be a new range. After that a new dishwasher.

Losing weight

This past week the doctors encouraged me to lose 50 pounds. So I put myself on a program. I weighed in Monday at 245 pounds. As of this morning I have lost 2 pounds. I am now down to 243 pounds. I am looking forward to being back down to 195.

Soul Cravings

Soul Cravings, by Erwin McManus is by far the best book I have read in 2007.

I know McManus can be raw and offensive to some but to me he is compellingly realistic. He writes so similar to my and what I believe to be every person's experiences.

Through all 75 entries, this book is powerful. And there is no way a person can sit down and read this book in one sitting (It took me about 2 months to read it and absorb it. I also went through McManus' Soul Cravings, Sunday sermon series being podcasted.). This book is too rich. But I know anyone reading this book will truly begin, if you don't already, to understand and experience more fully of God's love, meanings, cravings, and even find purpose and destiny. You'll be blessed. I sure was.

I bought 5 more copies of this book and gave them away to my friends.

I just purchased a new notebook computer. It is a Toshiba Satellite Notebook with Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology. It comes in a cool onyx blue metallic color.

It is has a 17" widescreen with 1440 x 900 resolution.

120 GB Harddrive.

2GB system memory.

And now I have something very fast on my home wireless networking system. I am pleased.

God has been good to me to alow me to purchase this notebook.

Under Attack

It's been tough for the past three weeks. It seems like my whole family, including myself, have been under attack by the enemy. Everything has gone wrong at my wife's work, my work, and at both of my kids' schools. The enemy hasn't won. Prayer from my church's "prayer society" has accomplished much and in every situation we have slowly, one-by-one, become victorious.
